I am finally getting my groove back. My Scrapbooking groove that is. I haven't been doing much but I'm am starting to do what I love once again. I don't even know how to post photos on here anymore. Shame on me. Gonna have to figure it out.
I just love telling myself that. You can always start over in the next 24 hours. LOL. With that said, I am trying to get back to my first love, the ability to tell my families story through photos, journaling, and embellishments. I love this crazy craft. Have not been able to convince my family to join me, but I won't give up.

This is my first layout possibly this year. I know the first in many months. It is a simple layout for Project Life School Year 2013-14 for Kennedi. I am also going to do albums for my other granddaughter Kinya, and my Goddaugther Jazmine.
He has allowed me to see another 25th birthday (hmm, hmm, cough, cough) 44th and proud of it. Wow time and life has certainly had me in a rut. But I am praying that this year will bring me closer to him and closer to my purpose.

I haven't did my passion, which is scrappin since earlier this year, but that will change in the near future. I thank all of you who have thought about me throughtout last year. I couldn't have made it without you.

I may lift for a bit but it is still creating right? Have a blessed day and see you soon.
The sketch was originally a one page layout but I only do two pagers. For my project I am showcasing a layout of my granddaugter Symone and my newphew Jamarian enjoying a popsicle on a warm Summer day.
Too bad it was created with a boy in mind. The papers were actually pulled to create a boy layout at Treasured Memories for a make and take.

Well, Little Miss Symone acts like a boy at times but all girl at others. She is tough as nails, but loves her lipstick, mascara, (she sneaks in her Tee Tee's bag), and fingernail polish. Now Jazmine on the other hand is girlie all the time.

I love the colors of the line. Lots of bold and bright colors, but how can you create something girlie out of something masculine?

My trusted friend Phelicia saved the day. In a previous class they made grass out of the little strips of beaded ribbon. I loved the effect, but it is tedious cutting those beads. But it is worth it. After I had my grass, I was like now I need some flowers because Symone loves herself some flowers. The little roses just added that extra ump to create something beautiful.

In the original sketch the title was black. Can you say did nothing for the layout. I decided to change my title from geared up to Girlie Girlsand layer for a more dramatic effect. To create the grass effect, you cut each bead on the top row going horizontally. Then you go back and completely remove every other bead horizontally. It creates that staggered look.

Some one suggested that you take the beads you cut out and glue them in various rows to create the different heights of blades of grass. I didn't do it in the layout, but I will try it on another one.

To create the curl on the flower stems, we just used a paintbrush and twirled it around the stem the staggered them throughout the grass.

Thanks for stopping by.
That meant that I could visit my favorite scrap store, Treasured Memories. I knew exactly what pictures I wanted to scrap, but had no paper in my stash. Yes, for those of you who are saying no way she didn't have any paper, believe it, I have plenty of paper, but none to match the photos.

This layout is my daughter, Tiffany and her future, maybe, lol fiance, Herman. Our town has added a beautiful waterfall landscape to the downtown area and we all love it. These photos were taken one Sunday evening.

I popped the flagstone in various places and it added so much dimension. I cut the My Mind's Eye paper in strips then weaved the wood. I am truly pleased with this layout.
It is not easy being a mom but someone has to do it. I have been home to day since church working on a layout I started last night. I am so relaxed when I am in my scraproom.

I have a few layouts to share that I made recently. The first one is a layout I created for Platinum Scraps. I was really surprised at how this layout turned out. My girlfriend says that I love to use every little space on my page. But I followed the sketch to the letter and I am so glad. The sketch came from Sketchy Thursday.

This is a photo of my granddaughter and my future son-in-law. They were downtown on our riverbank. They are such characters together. I have no clue what they are looking at but it had their attention.

My Interpretation

My second photo is one I created for my Disney trip with the local high school band. I am actually working on several books. This is not an original sketch. I believe I found this one on bing.com. My motto is if the wheel has been created, then it is no need to recreate it. So with that said, I have lifted this layout.

These are various photos of the group after our week at Disney. It was so much fun, but also very tiring.

But any of you know me, know that I believe I serve a big and mighty God. Now that doesn't say that the enemy hasn't tested my faith. I am asking God to allow me the strength for the journey.
With that said, I have to realize that many of us are struggling, whether it be personal or professionally in our lives. But I want to encourage you hat even in the darkest hour, hold on.
As I was reading my devotional this morning, it takes you to Genesis 50:20. As for you, you thought evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring about that many people should be kept alive, as they are this day.
Joyce Meyer says further on that this verse is a testament to how when others try to harm us, God will allow us to come to a place where we have the ability to overcome good with evil.
She reminds us to never forget how big our God is. Whatever happened in the past, it doesn't dictate your future. Trust God and he will turn things around.
Know that this day, God loves us dearly.tsrelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09885237372802556261noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8011721623185549422.post-68381186795372715442012-04-27T10:00:00.000-05:002012-05-01T13:16:03.571-05:00bring on the HAPPY!Ok, I was so frustrated the other night when I had the chance to view my personal blog and I saw that my layout from last Friday at Platinum Scraps. I am trying my best this year to juggle work, family, fun, and commitments and thru all of that become a better me.

I can't remember what all I had said but anyway, thanks to this new format on blogger and my inability to comprehend it, it did not post.

So without further ado, here is my take on the card sketch used for last week. Thanks for being loyal followers and do come back for future projects. The card sketch was selected from pagemaps.com.

If anyone knows the name this punch, please leave me a comment in the comments section. I realized that I have all of my punches but did not keep up with the names.
I am poor right now and couldn't afford to purchase the kit, so I bought the papers and lifted it. I know Janet was so kind as to give me a napkin, but for the life of me, I couldn't find it so I created my own. Thanks Janet for the inspiration.
I received Wife 2 DJ as my partner. Wife is a school nurse hence the nurse, the bandaids, and the stethscopes. I did not meet my deadline to have my cup mailed to my partner and I wanted to do something extra.

I created a two page layout for school. I did not title it because I wasn't sure what photos she would use for the layout. I hope she likes both.

The tumbler file was cut on MTC and I found the nurse file in the gallery. The layout was created from the Cricut.

I used the following carts:

Schoolhouse cut at 6.50 inches from My Community

School Bus cut at 5.00 inches from Stretch Your Imagination

All the paperdolls cut at 3.50 inches from Everyday Paper Dolls

Stop Sign cut at 5.00 inches from My Community

I made a few faux pas but I like the look anyway. This one is for my dad and I titled it, "Built Dad Tough" because in my eyes, there is nothing he can't do. I will incorporate photos of him doing what he does best, working on stuff for his kids.

Thanks Jana for a great layout.
The Queen of Vinyl, Nubian Crafter, assisted me with this file. LOL. Shhh, don't tell girl. LOL. She has been a life saver and I thank her for all the late night phone calls and calls during the day. Thanks.

This cup is for my granddaugther and love of my life Symone. She loves Elwo, not Elmo.

I wasn't sure about this paper and I am still on my personal challenge for the year to use more of my stash and secondly to scrap with pattern paper versus cardstock more.

I actually like how it turned out. I will complete my second page tommorrow. I have found that when I don't, I forget where I put the paper and what idea I was going to use.

This is my son, M.J. and his horse Candi at their first trailride together. I had to challenge myself not to overembellish. I still think it is necked, lol. I love lots of stuff but I wanted to focus on him and her.
Our club is Nat Town's Finest(NTF). Nubian cut the horse and I did the letters. Such a simple task, right, truly not. I am hooked though.

Oh yes, Symone felt that she needed to show off the sign. Vanna White, watch out.
Have you ever designed a layout and everyone said it was a good layout but decided that a little "tweaking" could turn it into a better layout. Well this is what I did. I followed the sketch but I felt the white space (empty space) at the top was a little to much for my liking. I went in and added a few elements.

I will display the sketch, the first tweak, and the second tweak. It is never to late to build on a good foundation.
It is a technique called "Faux Metal". You use foil tape, chipboard, metal distressing tools, and your imagination. I will upload a video in the near future demonstrating the process to create your very own metal page.

The key to this technique is building your chipboard images. Lot's and lot's of layers.

I made the following pages for my dad's album. These are pictures of us at the restaurant while watching the Saints game on Super Bowl Sunday and the other photo is the next day waiting for the team to land at the airport.

Believe you me, the camera does not do this technique justice.

The "Who Dat" layout was created in class. I love all the layering of the chipboard.

"Saint's Nation" was done after the class. I forgot my little chain at the top, but that's ok. I still love this technique.tsrelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09885237372802556261noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8011721623185549422.post-90048669718666429272011-04-19T21:14:00.001-05:002011-04-19T21:16:08.143-05:00Gearing Up For GreatnessThis is my bi-weekly challenge over at Platinum Scraps Each designer had to create a layout from a sketch selected from Pagemaps.

I am tryng to finish my kids graduation albums, so you will see layout after layout in the next few weeks featuring them. They have only been out of school one and two years respectively. LOL.

This layout shows my son as we prepared to take him to college. It was a bittersweet time for me. Eventhough, I had been thru this with my daughter, he is my baby. He also doesn't want Mama "Baby- Fying" Him up. LOL. I do anyway.

I love how the Tim Holtz gears came out. I cannot get a very good close up of the gears. I used a new metallic paint and it is absolutely beautiful. So easy to use.
Platinum Scraps has been in designing for an entire year. Last year, we started off with ten designers committing to two projects per month. We lost two along the way but the ride has been great.

To celebrate our year as a design team, we decided to allow the designers to create party items to invite our followers to the big party so to speak. I just realized that many of us will actually celebrate with parties this weekend for the Superbowl. I am going for Pittsburgh since my Darlin Saints are out. I just think the coach for the Steelers is so so sexy. Hmm Hmm Good. Shh don't tell hubby.

Anyway, I decided to create a place card holder and a Platinum decorated plate. Thanks to each of you who follow our design team and I pray that you would join us this year as we grow more.
I was trying out a layout from Ms. Paula down in Lafayette, LA. She is the bestest. She had a layout where she cut the photo into half inch squares and recreated the image. I did not get instructions from her, I just kinda winged it. I didn't add many embellishments because the photo is the focal point in this layout.

This is my precious Lil Man on his actual birthday.

Since I created the layout, I have spoken with Ms. Paula and she actually measured each line and drew marks. I am going to do this again with my son's MJ's photo, but I will use dark paper to measure the lines. I had thought of that but was afraid on my light background, the marks would show. Due to photograper error, it looks as if the left side is a little off but in the book, it acutally lines up.

We have been in the house since Thursday around 4:30 p.m. due to weather. This morning, we finished breakfast and I could tell she was getting sleepy. I was in the scrap room working on a project and she dozes off. She had her mouth open and I was gearing up to snap away. Then she hid under the covers as if to say, "No pictures Nana or as she likes to laugh and call me Nanny". This little girl is a mess. You gotta love her.
I didnt' like this paper at first but I must admit, it is growing on me. Please go over to the blog to view the other designer's take on this project.

I did a two for one as I like to call them. I met the requirements for our design team but in the process, I also used a sketch from a blog I just love. The sketch comes from the girls over at Stuck on U Sketches. I am still wanting to be like them when I grow up. As I went to there blog, I see that the sketch actually comes from pagemaps.com. Ok, enough the credit has been issued.
I am truly blessed to be able to say Happy New Year. I don't take that lightly or for granted. So many family and friends went to be with the Lord in 2010. I thank God for allowing us to see the New Year.

My first project for the New Year is a card using for Platinum Scraps using the Gypsy Line of paper from Bo Bunny. We will feature differenct projects from this line for the entire month.

Each designer had free reign on the card design. No sketches were required.
