Place Card and Plate

Wow, can you believe it.  Platinum Scraps has been in designing for an entire year.  Last year, we started off with ten designers committing to two projects per month.  We lost two along the way but the ride has been great.

To celebrate our year as a design team, we decided to allow the designers to create party items to invite our followers to the big party so to speak.  I just realized that many of us will actually celebrate with parties this weekend for the Superbowl.  I am going for Pittsburgh since my Darlin Saints are out.  I just think the coach for the Steelers is so so sexy.  Hmm Hmm Good.  Shh don't tell hubby.

Anyway, I decided to create a place card holder and a Platinum decorated plate.  Thanks to each of you who follow our design team and I pray that you would join us this year as we grow more.

You Blow My Mind

This week over at Platinum Scraps we are continuing our parade of projects made featuring paper from Bo Bunny's Gypsy line.  I didnt' like this paper at first but I must admit, it is growing on me.  Please go over to the blog to view the other designer's take on this project.

I did a two for one as I like to call them.  I met the requirements for our design team but in the process, I also used a sketch from a blog I just love.  The sketch comes from the girls over at Stuck on U Sketches.  I am still wanting to be like them when I grow up.  As I went to there blog, I see that the sketch actually comes from pagemaps.com.  Ok, enough the credit has been issued.

Three B's: Brads, Buttons, and Bows

Over at Platinum Scraps, our challenge this week is to create a layout with buttons, brads, and bows.  I immediately knew my title when this challenge was issued.  Didn't have the photos, paper, or even an idea, but I think it came out just fine. I challenged myself this time.  My team mates know that I am so afraid of patterned papers.  In 2011, I want to conquer that fear.  I only used solid cardstock as accents.  I love how it turned out.

This is Symone, ha ha, like yall don't know who she is.  But just in case, this is Nana's very first grandchild and my DD and DS never let's me forget that I am the first, her dad, and her and we are rotten.  I beg to differ but eveyone has their own opinions.

Anyway, this is Ms. Symone on her Papa's truck.  Whenever he puts her back there, she just has a ball.  He always has to chase her down just to get her to come out.

Thanks for always being a loyal follower.  Be sure to come and post a link to your project if you decide to take the challenge to complete the three B's.

Platinum Scraps September Card Challenge

I can't think of the artist who says this, I think it is Shekinah Glory but don't quote me, lol anyway they say, "Well, It's About That Time".  Truly for me it is.  The last several months have been really rough and the one thing that gave me comfort; scrap, I could not even due.  But thanks be to God, I am back.  I won't say I won't get down, but I certainly hope that I will be able to recognize what is happening and go into attack mode.  Anyway, thanks for all who continually lifted me and my family.  We are forever grateful.

This week over at Platinum Scraps each designer had to give their take on the following sketch.  The sketch can be found over at http://gotsketch.blogspot.com/

Here is my take.  For the life of me, I could not get this yellow paper to photo well.  I will try outside tommorrow.  Hope you like.  This is a card of encouragement.  TFL.

Family, Not Luck, But Love

Here is my take on the challenge at Platinum Scraps this week.  The sketch was provided by Patti Hutchinson and the theme had to be St. Patricks Day related.

I was like I have no pictures of anything St. Patty's Day, then while looking in my stash I came across these of my DGD, Symone and my DS, MJ at the park sometime in January.  Little Miss Symone had never been to the park with us and she did not care if she ever did from her reaction.  She did not like any of the park equipment; swings, slide, animals, none of it and she was not having it.

No one could satisfy her but "Uncle".  She would not go to anyone but him.  Her reaction on each photo says it all.  When I am unsure or afraid, I can always count on the love and protection of family.

Altered Wood Picture Frame

Here is my entry for the altered wood picture frame over at Platinum Scraps.  Completing this challenge was very special for me.  My cousin sent me this picture sometime last week and asked me to print it out for her. Well it has special meaning to her. Many of you know that I lost my aunt recently. This is my cousin and her mom(my aunt) taken at another funeral about two weeks before her mom left us.

I cut mother out a thousand times and my machine tore it up no matter how I tried. I said you know what, I am just going to call it "Soul" which is what we all called her because she truly was the "Soul" of our family.

The challenge was to alter a wooden picture frame, but I decided to kill two birds with one stone as they say.  I followed the challenge sketch over at Stuck On Sketches and altered the wooden frame for our challenge.

I made a mistake when completing my frame and my flowers ended up being on the wrong side but that is alright too because My Sistas  tell me all the time that there are truly no mistakes in scrapbooking.  LOL.  My aunt never liked taking pictures and I can just hear her saying yall better go on with that camera.  Rest in peace Auntie.  TFL.
