Super Excited Sunshine Award

Once before, I was nominated by a dear friend when I first began to blog.  I didn't respond because I was new to blogging and didn't know enough people.  I will not pass up this opportunity to say thanks and how much other fellow scrapbookers mean to me.  In the world of blogging, we all share and pass on our love for this wonderful craft and I would like to say thanks to Craftin Curt for nominating me.  It is indeed an honor.

As the rules state, you must accept this award then pass it on to six other worthy crafters.  I will add a twist of my own.  Pass it on to people that have not been nominated.  That way the sunshine can truly be passed around.

With that said, I nominate the following six bloggers:

Carol
Deshonda
Leialoha
Lorrie

Altered Wood Picture Frame

Here is my entry for the altered wood picture frame over at Platinum Scraps.  Completing this challenge was very special for me.  My cousin sent me this picture sometime last week and asked me to print it out for her. Well it has special meaning to her. Many of you know that I lost my aunt recently. This is my cousin and her mom(my aunt) taken at another funeral about two weeks before her mom left us.

I cut mother out a thousand times and my machine tore it up no matter how I tried. I said you know what, I am just going to call it "Soul" which is what we all called her because she truly was the "Soul" of our family.

The challenge was to alter a wooden picture frame, but I decided to kill two birds with one stone as they say.  I followed the challenge sketch over at Stuck On Sketches and altered the wooden frame for our challenge.

I made a mistake when completing my frame and my flowers ended up being on the wrong side but that is alright too because My Sistas  tell me all the time that there are truly no mistakes in scrapbooking.  LOL.  My aunt never liked taking pictures and I can just hear her saying yall better go on with that camera.  Rest in peace Auntie.  TFL.

My Birthday Sista

This is my last layout for the Sista's Thread Birthday Swap (Bout 2, Jan & Jay, & DcDoll I haven't forgotten I owe you a layout, lol).  TP was so kind to wait on me.  I finished her layout and will put it in the mail tommorrow.  TP, again you are a God send for understanding.  I tried several new things in this layout.  I used my Nestabilities for the first time.  I still need to practice a little more.  I also saw a card with the lattice technique on the message board and I fell in love with it.  I tried it but I believe it works better if you have the Scor pal and maybe thinner cardstock.  The third technique I tried to do is welding.  My friend Cheryl tried to teach me one night and it was something else.  She is probably still laughing at me.  Cheryl, I welded my title.

Birthday Club 2010!

Last year the "Sistas" Group went thru a major overhaul and that included our birthday club.  Now, I am going to be truly blessed because my birthday is the day before Valentine's day.  I am the second to receive my gift from my 2010 birthday Sista and I am the very last one in the 2009 club.  So guess what that means, ok, I will tell, I should be receiving lot's of goodies.

Nubian, my 2010 birthday sista has set the bar for all of us in the 2010 club.  She rocked my box and did it well.  I have paper packs, stamps, flock, ribbon, altered items, but the one thing that touched me the most was the doggie biscuits.  I am raising my "granddog" Deuce because DD is away at college and can't take him.  When my son brought the box in, Deuce was all over it.  I said you better move, nothing in here is for you, but I had no idea, he did though, lol.

Now I love to give personal things with my gifts and Nubian has just challenged me to raise the bar for my birthday sista.  I am loving my stash.  Thanks again.  Oh yes, while I was screaming in her ear telling her I will call her back after I finish looking thru my box, she had the nerve to call back talking bout stop, tommorrow is your birthday.  Well, I have a saying that my kids say I am famous for "The Devil Is  A Lie".  I ain't waiting till no tommorrow.  I have already opened it and will create tommorrow.

Paint Can Swap

The Paint Can Swap was hosted by Sistas Scrap Too as a treat your sista right for Valentine's Day.  I am so loving all of my goodies.  I ride a Harley and my sista did all things Harley; from the Stickles, to the dauber paint, to the ribbon, and she even got me a Harley Key.  Sharon, told me when I was giving her my list of a thousand things I would love to have to wait and be patient.  She said you won't get anything outside of your box but that can will be full.  And sure enough it was.  I can't wait to use my Rusty Pickle stuff.  Someone said they were going out of business, too bad.  Looks like they had great products.

Celebration Saints Style!

Well Guess What!  Yall already know, The Who Dat's Did Dat!.  And did we party in the "Big Easy", yes siree.  We had a ball.  I was only supposed to stay until Monday, but after all the excitement, I stayed until the parade and all I can say is there was nothing that could, would, or ever should compare to all that fun.

It's Here!

The Sketch

Platinum Scraps is a vision of several friends who met on the Cricut Message Board and wanted to venture out into creating, sharing, and showcasing the many talents each of us possess.

Our goal is to inspire others to fall in love with this wonderful art as much as we have in order to preserve a lasting legacy for generations to come. Visit the blog to see the wonderful and exciting projects created by my fellow design team members. While you are there, please sign up to follow us.

Every Monday, we will post new projects and along the way, there will be blog candy giveways!! Stay tuned.  And as an added bonus, we are now adding Time Out Thursdays, which features one designer's special project.

My Creation

My granddaugther Kennedi and her Leap Frog.  My favorite part of creating this layout is Kennedi's big little tooth right in the front.  We always tease her because she loves to show that "ugly" tooth.  Click on the photo to view it.  TFL.
